Material & quality

The materials used differ depending on the product and the desired lying comfort.
For the EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1 and the EULIN® WOLKENFELD AIR, EULIN® uses viscoelastic polyurethane foam, which is tailored differently for each model.
The EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1 uses a supportive performance memory foam. The EULIN® WOLKENFELD AIR consists of a softer, soft slow-rebound memory foam that allows for gentler and deeper sinking.

The EULIN® EDELFELD SWISS ZIP is filled with patented Rhombo-Fill® PUR air cell rods and PES hollow fiber balls. This material combination is designed for loft, dimensional stability, air circulation and washability.

A blend of bamboo viscose and polyester is used for the covers of the EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1.

Memory foam is a viscoelastic polyurethane foam. The material reacts to pressure and – depending on its composition – sometimes also to heat. It adapts to the contours of the head and neck and returns to its original shape with a delay after relief.

The following properties are particularly relevant for a memory foam pillow:
• Pressure distribution
• Resetting behavior
• Supporting power
• Cushion height
• Shape of the pillow
• personal sinking feeling

Memory foam is not inherently better than any other pillow material. What matters is whether the material properties, the pillow shape and the height suit your body type, your sleeping position and your mattress.

Viscoelastic foam combines elastic and slow-reacting material properties. It gives way under pressure and adapts to the contours of the body. After the load has been relieved, it returns to its original shape with a time delay.
How soft or supportive a viscoelastic pillow feels depends on the foam formulation, density, resilience, room temperature and the construction of the pillow.
This is why two memory foam pillows can feel significantly different despite similar material names.

EULIN® uses different foams for the two memory foam pillows.
The EULIN® CLOUD FLOWER MF1 is made of performance memory foam. This feels pleasantly soft, but has a comparatively high restoring force and therefore offers more stable support.

The EULIN® WOLKENFELD AIR uses soft slow-rebound memory foam. This foam has more give, allows it to sink more gently and returns to its original shape more slowly.
Neither foam is fundamentally better. The right choice depends on whether you prefer a more supportive or a particularly soft lying feeling.

EULIN® attaches great importance to material safety, compatibility and transparent proof of quality. Depending on the product, material and component, there are different tests and certifications.

These include, among others:
• OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
• OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
• CertiPUR-US®
• Tests in accordance with the requirements of the European REACH regulation
• Tests for BPA and other plasticizers
• Tests for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, PAH for short
• Tests of other relevant substance groups
• ergonomic certification of the EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1 by the IGR

A certification always only applies to the product, material or component that is expressly named in the respective certificate. Therefore, the specific certificates, certificate numbers and scopes of application should be noted on the respective product page or in the “Tested Quality” area.

For selected EULIN® pillows, not only the outer cover is tested or certified. The memory foam used also has corresponding quality certificates.
This is relevant because the foam makes up the majority of a memory foam pillow. When assessing a product, attention should not only be paid to the cover, but also to the tests on the core.
Which certification applies to which material can be determined using the respective certificate number and the scope described there.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is an internationally recognized testing and certification system for textiles and textile precursors.
Certified components are tested for legally regulated and other potentially questionable substances using an extensive catalog of criteria. Limit values, skin contact and the intended use are taken into account, among other things.
The requirements differ depending on the product class. The more intensive the skin contact and the more sensitive the intended user group, the stricter the requirements.
At EULIN®, not only the outer pillowcase is tested for selected products. The foam used can also have a valid OEKO-TEX® certification. The certificate number belonging to the respective product and the designated scope are always decisive.

Product class I of the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 includes products and materials that are intended for babies and small children or that may come into contact with particularly sensitive skin. The strictest requirements within the standard apply to this product class.
In the EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1, the memory foam used also has the corresponding OEKO-TEX® certification. The certificate number, the product class and the scope of materials specified in the certificate are crucial for the exact classification.
Such certification confirms testing for the substances covered in the standard. However, it is not a general medical proof of compatibility for every individual person.

OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN is a traceable product label for textiles and leather goods. It confirms that a labeled product has been tested for harmful substances and has been manufactured in certified companies under more socially acceptable working conditions.
The label combines requirements for material safety with criteria for more responsible production conditions and traceability.
The same applies here: The certification refers to the specifically designated product and the scope defined in the certificate.

CertiPUR-US® is a voluntary testing program for flexible polyurethane foams.
The program defines requirements for specific ingredients, emissions and physical properties of the tested foam. Among other things, selected substance groups and volatile emissions are examined.
The certification refers to the tested polyurethane foam. It does not automatically apply to the cover, other components or the complete end product.

The IGR – Institute for Health and Ergonomics – evaluates products based on ergonomic criteria and practical application tests.

The EULIN® CLOUD FLOWER MF1 was certified by the IGR as an ergonomic product. The certification confirms that the cushion has met defined ergonomic requirements as part of the testing process.

A new memory foam pillow may temporarily have a noticeable smell after unpacking. This so-called new smell can arise from manufacturing, packaging and the air trapped during transport.
In many cases, the smell gradually decreases after unpacking and airing out. Before first use, allow the pillow to fully unfold and air out in a dry, well-ventilated room.
How long the new smell remains noticeable depends, among other things, on the material, the length of packaging, the room temperature, the ventilation and the individual

Take the pillow completely out of the packaging and remove all transport foil. Then lay it flat in a dry and well-ventilated room.
When airing out, avoid direct heat, radiators, strong sunlight and high humidity. The foam should have enough space to fully expand.
Do not wash the foam core unless the care instructions for the respective model specifically allow this. As a rule, only the covers intended for this purpose can be washed.

Memory foam can retain body heat more than a loosely filled pillow. However, how warm a memory foam pillow actually feels depends on several factors.

These include:
• Room temperature
• Humidity
• Cover material and thickness
• Bedding
• personal heat production
• Tendency to sweat
• Sleeping position
• Air circulation around the cushion

The EULIN® memory foam pillows have ventilation channels and breathable covers. This construction is intended to support air and moisture transport and reduce possible heat build-up.
However, ventilation ducts cannot replace active cooling or a permanently cool cushion surface.

The ventilation channels create additional air passages within the foam core. This allows air to circulate more easily through certain areas of the pillow.
The channels can help dissipate heat and moisture better than a fully enclosed foam core. The extent to which this effect is perceived depends on the sleeping environment and the individual's sense of warmth.
The ventilation channels do not change the basic property of memory foam to absorb and store body heat. Rather, they support the pillow's temperature and moisture management.

The lifespan of a memory foam pillow depends on use, care, body weight, moisture exposure and individual comfort requirements.
If used daily, EULIN® recommends critically examining a memory foam pillow after about two years and replacing it if necessary.

An earlier replacement may make sense if:
• the original shape no longer returns reliably,
• the supporting force decreases significantly,
• permanent depressions or deformations form,
• the foam becomes damaged or brittle,
• odors cannot be removed despite correct care,
• hygienic reasons speak against further use,
• the pillow is no longer comfortable or appropriate.

A fixed lifespan cannot be guaranteed because memory foam ages at different rates depending on the load.

The EULIN® EDELFELD SWISS ZIP can often be used over a longer period of time due to its washable construction and replaceable filling.
The filling quantity can be changed using the zipper. Filling material can be removed or added using the refill bag. This means that the height, firmness and loft can be adjusted even after prolonged use.
The actual lifespan still depends on the frequency of use, care, washing and drying conditions, mechanical stress and personal requirements.
A washable pillow should also be replaced if the material, workmanship, hygiene or comfort decrease significantly.

A pillow should be replaced if it no longer reliably fulfills its original support function or hygienic quality.

Possible signs are:
• permanent deformations
• Significantly reduced restoring force
• Formation of lumps in filled pillows
• damaged seams or zippers
• Cracks or brittle areas in the foam
• Discolorations or odors that can no longer be removed
• Permanently unpleasant feeling when lying down
• Lack of head and neck support

Even if there is no visible damage, your personal needs may change. A new mattress, a different sleeping position, or physical changes may cause a different pillow height or construction to be a better fit.

The price of an EULIN® pillow is not just based on the visible shape. Numerous factors go into development and production.

These include, among others:

With the EULIN® WOLKENBLUME MF1, not only the cover was tested. The memory foam used also has OEKO-TEX® product class I certification and therefore meets particularly strict requirements within the standard.
The EULIN® EDELFELD SWISS ZIP also features complete Swiss manufacturing, the patented filling material, washability and the refill system.
The goal of EULIN® is not to offer the cheapest pillow. The focus is on a high-quality, clearly described and long-lasting sleep product as well as transparent information about materials and properties.

Pillows can vary significantly in terms of material quality, construction, workmanship, customization options and quality certifications.

When making a comparison, you should pay particular attention to the following points:
• Type and quality of foam or filling material
• Transparency of material information
• Certifications and their scope
• Dimensional stability and restoring force
• Height adjustment options
• Quality of references
• Fabric density and seam processing
• removable interior and exterior covers
• Washability
• Availability of replacement pay
• Replacement and refill solutions

EULIN® particularly emphasizes that in selected memory foam models, the foam itself is tested or certified and not just the outer cover.
Depending on the model, there are also patented shapes or filling materials, separate inner covers, height-adjustable constructions and independent ergonomic tests.
However, a higher price does not automatically mean that a pillow is better suited for every person. What remains crucial is whether the height, shape, support and lying comfort suit your individual requirements.

The EULIN® EDELFELD SWISS ZIP is manufactured entirely in a Swiss factory and is 100% Swiss Made.
For other EULIN® products, development, design and quality control take place in Switzerland. As a Swiss company, EULIN® attaches great importance to the highest quality standards and careful product development.
Depending on the product, individual production steps and the manufacture of certain components can take place abroad. Detailed information about the origin and scope of production is listed on the corresponding product page.

All EULIN® products currently available are vegan. EULIN® does not use any ingredients of animal origin.
Where it makes sense for function, quality and durability, EULIN® relies on selected plant-based or synthetic materials. These include, for example, bamboo viscose, polyester, polyurethane foam and synthetic filling fibers.
EULIN® consciously avoids using animal materials and considers this to be part of its own responsibility towards animals and the environment.
The term “vegan” refers to the product materials used. It does not automatically mean biodegradable, natural or completely free of synthetic components.
